The launch of our new online portal for mortgage brokers
October 13, 2026
We have launched a new online portal designed to make it easier for mortgage brokers to submit and manage applications, marking a significant step forward in our digital development.
The new Broker Portal went live on 5 October following an 18-month development programme carried out in-house by our Society’s IT team.
The new service provides brokers with a dedicated online facility through which they can submit and manage mortgage applications, making it quicker and more straightforward to do business with us, here at Swansea Building Society.
We currently work with around 830 Mortgage Broker Intermediaries across the UK, with the new portal now providing a dedicated digital gateway for these intermediary partners.
The launch represents an important development for us. Until now, we did not have an online facility for submitting mortgage applications, with brokers using our established application processes and dealing directly with our mortgage team.
The new portal is designed to make the application journey more convenient for brokers while complementing our existing personal approach. Registered mortgage advisers can submit new business, while broker administrators can submit documents and manage cases on behalf of the advisers.
Support has also been built into the new service, with a dedicated set of frequently asked questions and support videos to help brokers use the portal. If further assistance is required, brokers can contact our dedicated portal support team by email or speak to their existing Relationship Manager or the Manager’s Assistant.
The new digital service is being introduced alongside our established approach to mortgage lending. Our mortgage team manually underwrites cases and assesses applications on their individual merits, rather than relying on automated credit scoring.
Alun Williams, our Chief Executive, said:
“Our intermediary partners are an important part of Swansea Building Society and we want to make it as straightforward as possible for them to do business with us.
“The launch of our new Broker Portal is a significant milestone for the Society. It is the result of 18 months of development by our own team and gives brokers a dedicated online route to submit and manage their mortgage applications.
“We know that brokers value both efficiency and accessibility, but they also value being able to speak to people who understand their cases. The portal gives us an opportunity to improve the digital side of the service without losing the personal approach that is such an important part of Swansea Building Society.
“This is an important step in the continued development of our digital services, and we look forward to building on it as we respond to the needs of our brokers and their customers.”
Nick Longar, our Head of IT, said:
“Developing the Broker Portal with our long-standing trusted partner, SBS Software (Previously known as Sopra Banking Software) has given us the opportunity to build something around the way Swansea Building Society and our intermediary partners actually work.
“This has been an 18-month project and involved a significant amount of work across our IT and wider business teams. We have focused on creating a straightforward and secure online service that makes it easier for brokers to submit and manage their cases, with guidance and support available whenever they need it.
“The launch is an important milestone, but it is also the beginning of the next stage of our digital journey. We will continue to listen to our brokers and look at how we can develop the portal and our wider digital services further.”
Richard Broadbent, Head of Sales - UK&I, SBS, said:
“Swansea Building Society has been a valued client for many years, and this project is a testament to the strength of our long-standing partnership. Working closely with the Society’s IT and business teams throughout the process has enabled us to deliver a portal that reflects the needs of its brokers and the way they work. It has been a rewarding collaboration, and we are proud to have contributed to the launch.
"We look forward to building on our relationship with Swansea Building Society and supporting the continued development of its digital services for brokers and members alike.”
