We were honoured to welcome two of Welsh rugby’s standout players, Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake, to our Portland Street branch in Swansea recently. The celebrated duo paid a special visit to present Branch Manager David Osterland with a framed and signed Ospreys rugby shirt as a heartfelt thank-you for the Society’s long-standing support of the club.
Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake are among the most high-profile figures in Welsh rugby today. Jac was only one of two players to represent Wales on the British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia in 2025. Both Jac and Dewi have captained Wales and the Ospreys — leading by example with their powerful performances and inspirational leadership on the pitch. Their presence in Swansea was a real treat for staff and customers alike.
This framed shirt isn’t just a great piece of sporting memorabilia — it’s a token of appreciation from two players who recognise the Society’s commitment to backing local sport and community life. The Ospreys have a rich tradition in Welsh rugby, and Swansea Building Society has been proud to be part of that story as a supporter over many years.
The visit comes at an important time for Welsh rugby. Both Jac and Dewi have recently confirmed they will be leaving the Ospreys at the end of the current season to join English Premiership club Gloucester Rugby ahead of the 2026/27 season. Their upcoming move represents a major moment for both players, who bring world-class ability and leadership to Gloucester — significantly strengthening the club’s forward pack.
While their departure is seen by many as a blow to Welsh regional rugby amid ongoing uncertainty, it also highlights the calibre of home-grown talent that has developed in South Wales — something that communities like Swansea continue to celebrate.
David Osterland, Branch Manager at our Portland Street branch, was delighted to receive the signed shirt and said the visit emphasised the deep links between sport and community in the region. The framed jersey will take pride of place in the branch as a symbol of this partnership and shared pride.
David Osterland, Swansea Branch Manager, said:
“It was a real privilege to welcome Jac and Dewi to our Swansea branch and to receive such a fantastic gift on behalf of the Society. The signed Ospreys shirt is a wonderful gesture and a meaningful thank-you for our long-standing support of the club. As a Swansea-based mutual, we’re incredibly proud to support Welsh rugby and the communities it represents, and we wish both Jac and Dewi every success in the next chapter of their careers.”
Our Society remains committed to supporting local teams, organisations, and community initiatives — championing not just financial wellbeing, but the passion and pride that make this region special.
